The Center for Clinical Medical Education is being established to coordinate UC Riverside's delivery of community health care, in cooperation with one or more existing medical schools. The first phase would be location of third- and fourth-year medical school clerkships and clinical rotations in hospitals in the Inland Empire, possibly by 2007. The intent of the Center is to improve the level and scope of community health care delivery to underserved communities and regions within the Inland Empire by bringing more medical specialists and students to the area to provide state-of-the-art medical services. The scope of activities would include educational and clinical services. It is expected that those who complete their training in the Inland Empire will want to stay in the area to practice. The Center will coordinate residencies in the Inland Empire. Continuing medical education programs also will be included.
